Sage accounting
software
There are two principal accounts packages for small
business - Sage Instant and Sage 50.
Sage Instant is Ideal for use by a smaller
business- a sole
trader for example with a simple book-keeping or
accounting requirement. Sage 50 is widely used by
growing businesses and has a greater range of modules
from a comprehensive Stock Control module, to full Sales
and Purchase Order processing. However, the interface of
Sage Instant is very similar to the more comprehensive
Sage 50 package. A knowledge of Instant Accounts will
also provide a good basis for developing your skills
later.

With a
knowledge of sage accounting software, book-keepers may
have a greater earning potential and would at least have
a greater range of posts that would be open to them. The
software, is the package of choice for many businesses
across the UK. If you also have experience with sage
payroll, this would qualify you for a combined role.
Sage
payroll is used by many businesses with employees, to
calculate wages and salaries and to link with the Inland
Revenue. Posts are available within businesses that
operate their own payroll system, or increasingly, with
a payroll bureau that may run payrolls on behalf of
several businesses
